Diesel car tax crisis - averted!

Diesel car confusion answered...

Chancellor Phillip Hammond has revealed that there will be a rise in the taxes placed on diesel cars from April 2018 onwards. But will this affect you? Vanarama's Laura Day reports.

Believe it or not, you might not be in the firing line, despite owning a diesel car. Let's have a little look at why…

Confronting the diesel car confusion

Here are the facts:

1. Tax for diesel cars WILL go up in April 2017.

2. BUT… any diesel car that is certified as meeting the most recent Euro 6 emissions standards, will be EXEMPT from this tax rise

So, if you're driving a diesel vehicle that meets the Euro 6 emissions standards, you've got nothing to worry about! It's generally the older, diesel models that will be affected by this increase in tax.

And at Vanarama, we only lease brand new vehicles that meet these emission standards, so you can rest assured that if you lease with us, you'll won't be hit by the tax hike next April.

In case you didn't know…

The increase in diesel taxes will be used to fund a new £200m pot for tackling air quality starting next year, in an attempt to make our world as clean and green as possible.
