We pride ourselves here at Vanarama on keeping our range of available Citroen vans up-to-date with the latest models from the Citroen Relay range. For more information read our Citroen Relay Reviews

The Citroen Relay combines comfort and convenience with an almost exhaustive choice of add-ons, conversions and specification tweaks.

First introduced back in 1994, the medium-sized light commercial vehicle is more widely known as the Jumper, with Citroen only choosing to brand it as the Relay in the UK and Ireland.

It is the largest panel van in the range and offers an impressive load capacity of up to 17 cubic metres, depending on the choice of vehicle length, roof height and wheelbase.

Van leasing customers can choose from four lengths and three heights of panel van, a chassis crew cab model and three lengths of single chassis cab.

The standard chassis can also be used as the basis of a wide array of vehicles, including dropsides, tippers and freezer vans.

On top of the standard specs that you'd expect to find on any panel van worth its salt, the Relay offers the kind of innovative equipment that is something of a rarity in the commercial vehicle market. Gadgets include a rear parking camera with a shelf-mounted screen in the cabin, a choice of two fixed speed limiters and Citroen's Electronic Stability Programme, which features a hill start assistance function.

A choice of engines is also on offer to suit the needs of the individual customer. Three diesel units are available, all of which are paired with manual six-speed gearboxes.

The 2.2 HDi 110 hp engine is specially optimised for low fuel consumption and emissions, the 2.2 HDi 130 hp unit offers a bit of extra grunt and the 3.0 HDi 180 hp model represents the range's maximum level of torque and power.

While it's always great to see a vehicle with plenty of options, this variety means nothing if the van isn't up to scratch.

Fortunately this isn't the case, with the Citroen Relay receiving a hatful of acclaim from reviewers.

Fleet News conducted a long-term test on the Relay, putting the vehicle through its paces for six months and eventually declaring its performance over the half-year to be "flawless".

During that time, the reviewer clocked up 10,000 miles and was impressed with the van's "generally pleasing" on-road ability and fuel economy figure of 37 mpg.

One of the features that attracted the most praise from Fleet News was the satnav, which was described as easy to use thanks to its simple touchscreen interface.

"As it is linked to the excellent Trafficmaster system in the UK, it will also guide you carefully round any major hold-ups ahead, unlike some of the little gizmos you buy in the shops. Now that's what I call useful," the website commented.

The reviewer was also pleased with the comfort of the driver's seat, which "seems to mould itself to every contour of the body".

Given the length of the test, Fleet News was always likely to have one or two gripes about the Relay, but these were relatively minor. The only real issues were the curiously positioned handbrake - located between the drivers' seat and the door - and the "pathetic" lights in the back of the vehicle, although this is a problem that also blights many of its rivals.

Fleet News was not the only reviewer to be impressed with the Citroen Relay, with VansA2Z stating the latest generation has seen the van "come of age".

The well-designed cab and the range of engines and models were picked out as major positives, while the abundance of load tie-down points also came in for praise.

Van Trader was also pleased with the quality of the Citroen Relay, declaring that the only downside is the over-windscreen shelf, on which drivers could potentially bang their heads.

"Other than that, there is nothing to dislike about the Relay van," the publication concluded.
