Breaks and Driving Hours up to 3.5 tonne GVW

  • · Domestic drivers are subject to the following rules concerning driving hours and breaks
  • · The maximum amount of driving time in a working day is 10 hours
  • · The maximum amount of duty time is 11 hours. On days where a driver does not drive, the duty time limit does not apply
  • · Drivers who drive for less than four hours per day are exempt from the daily duty limit
  • · If a trailer increases the GVW in excess of 3.5 tonnes, a tachograph needs to be used and be subject to greater restrictions on driving hours. More information can be found at here.
