Renault to launch Kangoo Maxi

Renault have announced the launch of a long-wheelbase version of the Kangoo, making it the only manufacturer to offer three body lengths within its compact business van range.

The Kangoo Van Maxi is 390mm longer than Kangoo Van and boasts an additional cubic metre of load volume. It also offers a useful load volume of up to 4.6cu m and a loadspace length at floor level of 2.1m. In addition, the Kangoo Van Maxi has a payload of 800kg, and can tow a braked trailer weight of 1.05 tonnes.

With an overall length of 4.60m, Kangoo Van Maxi is 384mm longer than Kangoo Van. All of this extra length is contained within the 3.1m wheelbase. There is no high-roof option, so its overall height is the same as Kangoo Van and Kangoo Compact at 1.82 metres, making it compact enough to use city-centre car parks.

The Kangoo Van Maxi is available with either two or five seats. The two-seater version can be equipped with a folding passenger seat, allowing the maximum load length at floor level to be extended from 2.1m to 2.9m (with seat in folded position).

All versions of Kangoo Van Maxi are fitted as standard with a twin sliding side doors to enable easy access to the load space. It is powered by the familiar 1.5 dCi 85 powerplant returning average combined cycle fuel consumption of 53.3mpg and 47.9mpg on the urban cycle. This engine is available for both the two- and five-seater versions and emits 140g/km of CO2.

Kangoo Van Maxi goes on sale in the UK on 4 June.
