The Citroen Berlingo, which is currently available for van contract hire, is to undergo an upgrade that will see its fuel economy and green credentials boosted.
Citroen has announced that, as of October, the 1.6HDi 75hp and 90hp diesel versions of the Berlingo will benefit from improved fuel usage and CO2 emissions.
Fuel consumption will be cut by as much as 1.7 per cent while CO2 emissions will be reduced by up to 6g/km.
Robert Handyside, commercial vehicle operations manager at the manufacturer, said: "Citroen continues to refine its Euro 4 engines to ensure its LCV (light commercial vehicle) customers benefit from fuel efficiency gains and emissions reductions.
"These latest changes, which are being introduced without any cost penalty, will ensure that the Berlingo maintains its position as one of the UK's best-selling small vans."
The news comes the same week as an announcement by Ford which revealed that the manufacturer's FiestaVan is to benefit from a new, more fuel-efficient engine from next year.
