Come fly with us!

We reach for the sky in a bid to raise thousands for local hospice

The budding Peter Pans and Wendys amongst us are saying no to Never and putting our wonga where our mouths are in September by hurling ourselves out of a plane at 13,000 feet! We will then be free-falling at speeds that rival the quickest supercar before (all being well) pulling the all-important parachute cord at 5000 feet and floating down for the last mile, like eagles soaring through the sky, and then landing with a gentle bump. Why on earth? We hear you ask…well the answer is simple; we're aiming to raise £7600 for one of our favourite charities, The Hospice of St Francis.

So far 19 staff members, including the Big Cheese himself, have placed their fears behind them and signed on the dotted line to hurl themselves out of a plane in a tandem skydive on the morning of 20th September. Therapy is booked and insurance policies are in place for what looks set to be one of our most exciting fundraising adventures to date!

All joking apart, The Hospice of St Francis, which offers care to local people with life limiting illnesses, is a charity that means a lot to our staff. The charity doesn't charge for any of their vital services and relies on the generosity of the local community for 80% of its funding. We hope that you will support us in achieving our fundraising target:

  • £25 will pay for a whole day's supply of oxygen for a patient with breathing difficulties.
  • £50 will pay for a creative therapy session for a child experiencing the loss of a loved one.
  • £100 will keep one of the Community Specialist Nurses on the road for a day.
  • £500 will pay for an entire morning shift of nursing on the In Patient Unit.

If you would like to help, we would certainly appreciate your support. We're certainly going to need the incentive of knowing we'll be reaching our target when we do the jump on the 20th! Please visit https://www.justgiving.com/teams/autorama.
