Helping to tackle homelessness with a new van and £10,000 donation

We love making people happy with a new van.  It means even more to us when it happens to be our local homelessness charity.  DENS (Dacorum Emergency Night Shelter) has just taken delivery of a new Citroen Relay Luton, courtesy of Vanarama.  This means it can carry on its amazing work, improving services for the homeless.  Whether that's collecting donated items of furniture, delivering Foodbank donations or even moving someone into Rent Aid accommodation and their first steps towards independent living!

The new van is a replacement for the previous one supplied by Vanarama, with all the hard work it does in the community it was in need of a change.

Driving homelessness services forward…

DENS Chief Executive, Andrew Liversidge explains, "This is the second lease Vanarama has financed for us and the van is in constant use here at DENS.  It really is invaluable," he explains, "Getting a brand new van means we won't have to worry about wear and tear on the old van and our staff and the people we help are unlikely to be left stranded by a vehicle breakdown.  What's more, thanks to Vanarama's generosity, we are able to allocate funds to those who need it most, rather than paying for the cost of a new vehicle."

Vanarama - supporting charities near and far

At Vanarama we love to back charities as Managing Director Andy Alderson explains, "I believe that as a business grows, so does its responsibility to the community around it.  So, seeing the amazing difference the DENS van makes to the charity and knock-on effect it has on the community is fantastic."

The financing of the new DENS van comes hot on the heels of a £10,000 donation made by us to the charity.  Andy chose to make the donation after our staff visited DENS premises and witnessed first-hand the incredible work the charity does, from finding the homeless places to stay, to offering counselling and support to get them back on the right path.

Pictured above are the Vanarama team handing over the cheque for £10,000 which will go directly to making a difference to the lives of homeless people in the Dacorum area.

See for yourself the outstanding difference having a reliable van makes to DENS

Vanarama would like to thank the services of local photographer Rebecca Fennell and videographer Chris Hughes for kindly donating their time to provide photographic and video services.
