E.ON Turns to Toyota for Help

Energy supplier E.ON has put a contingency plan in place to help their customers who are unlucky enough to find themselves without hot water or heating during the winter months.
Toyota Hilux Double Cabs have been hired by E.ON as part of a three year deal, and have gone into service across the U.K.
12 Toyota Hiluxs were supplied to E.ON from Toyota World based in Birmingham. The vehicles were chosen according to Lorna McAtear, E.ON's commercial fleet Manager because of their off-road capability as they are very good at handling rough off road terrain, and they have the lowest possible CO2 emissions.
Technician manager for E.ON, John Neilson commented: "Being left without heating if your boiler fails this winter can be distressing and potentially life threatening for our vulnerable customers. Being equipped with the right vehicles to reach these customers no matter what the winter throws at us is vitally important."
Using off-road vehicles indicates that E.ON have put a lot of thought into what they needed and how they were going to get their people and equipment into places that were hard to reach. They also researched the options before deciding to use Toyota Hilux's to do the job.
The off-road vehicle industry is becoming more competitive with Toyota, VW, Mitsubishi, Nissan, and Ford all offering quality vehicles to the market. Arguably however, for sheer off-road pulling power the Landrover is still the clear winner.
Nonetheless, the pick-ups which look trendy, have also caught the eye of the executive who enjoys a good tax break at using a commercial vehicle to take the kids to school.
