Drivers may wish to consider the option of van leasing as an alternative to buying a vehicle as the government's scrappage scheme draws to an end.
The government has advised van drivers that there are now only room for 50,000 more vehicles to be bought as part of the programme.
These have been distributed among manufacturers with the initiative due to end once they run out or by the end of March, whichever comes first.
Business Secretary Lord Mandelson said: "This is last orders for the scrappage scheme.
"Industry figures have showed again and again the benefits that the scrappage scheme is continuing to deliver to the automotive sector and beyond. It is great news that in January scrappage helped the industry to achieve its biggest output gain since May 1976."
So far 355,000 orders (including vans and cars) have been made through the £400 million scheme since it was launched last April.
To be eligible for the scrappage scheme, a van must weigh no more than 3,500 Kg, be over ten years old and have been in the hands of the current owner for over a year.
