Improved planning could make roads better for van leasing customers

Van leasing customers could find less congestion on the roads if they were better managed and new technology is introduced.
That is the conclusion of the Transport Committee, which has published a report on how to improve congestion on Britain's transport system.
It suggests that the integration of different modes of transport is continued and that traffic management techniques such as variable speed limits are extended by the government.
However, it also recommends the authorities do more to provide better and more timely information to motorists.
Committee chair Louise Ellman MP said: "It is vital that the public understands what is happening, and why the speed limit is lower than normal.
"That may be because of road works, an accident or because of congestion.
"We have all experienced the frustration of temporary speed restrictions, sometimes for miles, for no apparent reason."
A recent report by the Asphalt Industry Alliance found that £9.5 billion of funding would need to be found to bring the UK's damaged and potholed roads up to scratch.
