M25 named Britain's most depressing road

Van leasing customers will do well to avoid the M25 as much as possible, a new survey suggests.

A study by Motorcycle News has found the London orbital motorway to be the most depressing in the country.

The poll asked drivers to rate roads based on factors such as traffic jams, potholes, speed cameras and boredom, with the 119-mile M25 - Britain's busiest road - identified as the worst.

It was followed by the Birmingham stretch of the M6 and the A1 in North London.

Other roads to make it onto the list include the M5 near Bristol and the M8 between Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Speaking to the Daily Express, Paul Watters of the AA offered advice for drivers in times of stress on Britain's roads.

"De-stress yourself by not being tired, having the right music on in the car and leaving plenty of time for the journey. Then grin and bear it," he told the news provider.

A recent Virgin Money study found London to be the least driver-friendly town in the UK based on factors such as parking costs and petrol prices.
