Male drivers 'more likely to have costly crashes than women'

Companies looking to lease Renault Trafic Crew Vans may want to ensure their employees watch a series of short videos before getting behind the wheel.

New research conducted by insurance company elephant.co.uk reveals that men are more likely to have bigger car crashes than women.

A study of 200,000 claims showed that young males in particular have more costly accidents than their female counterparts.

On average, a crash involving a man aged under 25 will cost 15 per cent more than one where the driver was female.

Elephant.co.uk managing director Brian Martin encouraged individuals to watch a number of motoring advice videos created with the help of Fifth Gear's Tim Shaw, that provide tips on driving in certain conditions.

He said: "As well as demonstrating how best to control your car, our films also reveal how smooth and efficient driving can help your car perform at its peak and be more cost efficient."

As well as presenting Fifth Gear, Shaw hosted the Channel 4 show Extreme Male Beauty.
