A number of framework conditions for a viable transition to sustainable mobility in the European Union (EU) has been identified in the Communication on Clean and Energy Efficient Vehicles report.
Such conditions will affect van leasing customers as the EU moves towards a continent-wide deployment of clean, energy-efficient vehicles.
The report states that advanced conventional technologies in addition to the utilisation of alternative fuels will play a "predominant role" as clean vehicles are utilised over the coming decades.
Ivan Hodac, the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association's (ACEA) secretary general, welcomed the framework and its promotion among the 27 EU member states.
"This is the right approach given the fact that major competing economies such as the US, Japan and China, have already taken strategic action in this field," he explained.
The ACEA said yesterday (April 28th) there has been an 8.8 per cent increase in the number of new commercial vehicles registered in March compared to the same month last year.
