Nissan extends trade-in offer

Nissan van leasing centres may be interested to learn that Nissan has announced plans to extend its trade-in offer, despite the fact that the government scrappage scheme is coming to an end.
According to the auto manufacturer, its £2,000 trade-in deal on British built Nissans will be extended to cover all models over seven-years-old.
Its British Built Trade-in Scheme was previously only applicable to models aged between eight and ten years old, serving as an extension to the government's own programme, which applied to all vehicles older than a decade.
However, a greater number of vehicles will now be eligible for the offer, which is due to run from April 1st to June 30th, 2010.
"There's no doubt the government's scrappage scheme along with our own Trade-in Scheme has given the UK automotive industry a boost," said Paul Wilcox, managing director of Nissan Great Britain.
"As Britain's biggest car builder, we hope that by extending our scheme we can sustain the positive results seen to date and continue to support the British economy."
Nissan estimates that it sold 15,840 vehicles through the government Scrappage scheme, 81 per cent of which were built in the UK.
