Party manifestos ignore needs of motorists, says AA

Van leasing customers and other motorists are being ignored in the run-up to the General Election, the AA has said.
The organisation claims that motorists' concerns have not been addressed either in any of the three main parties' manifestos nor in any of the campaigning.
"Transport has hardly featured in the election campaigns to date," said AA president Edmund King.
"Yet transport issues affect the vast majority of the population every day of the week, whether it is the high cost of fuel, traffic congestion, lack of parking or potholes.
"We urge the 43 million motorists to push the political parties on all these issues."
To this end, the AA has launched its own 'motoring manifesto' which calls on politicians to act on the main worries of motorists as revealed in a survey by the organisation.
It found that the cost of motoring is a major concern of 53 per cent of drivers, followed by illegal drivers (51 per cent) and drink or drug-drivers (32 per cent).
The cost of running a vehicle has become increasingly difficult for motorists of late, with petrol prices recently reaching record highs.
