Ford van contract hire customers may be interested to learn that a special edition of its iconic Transit model is being rolled of its assembly line in Southampton today (April 30th).
To celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Transit's launch, the vehicle manufacturer has launched the Sapphire, of which only 1,150 will be built, roadtransport.com reports.
Each sapphire model is produced with a number of alterations to make it slightly different from a standard Transit model, such as air conditioning, cruise control and Bluetooth capabilities.
Further perks include a heated front windscreen and a special Ink Blue finish, while on the outside the Sapphire receives a silver grille, rear light protectors and guards for the wind mirrors.
The special edition Sapphire will be available in three different models - the 144hp 280 short wheelbase edition with a low roof, the 114hp 280 medium wheelbase and 2.4-litre 114hp long wheelbase version.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that 84 per cent of Ford's customers said they were happy with the quality of their new vehicle - the highest figure among the major car manufacturers.
