Van contract hire customers warned of oil danger

Van contract hire customers and other motorists should regularly check their oil as failing to do so can lead to expensive repair bills and increased fuel costs.
That is according to engine oil company Chevron Global Lubricants which has revealed that one in ten UK motorists never check their vehicle's oil.
A survey carried out by CCB FastMAP on behalf of the firm, also found that more than two in three do not know the correct type of oil to use.
This puts the UK far behind other European nations, with an average of just 3.1 per cent of drivers surveyed in Spain, the Netherlands and Romania failing to check their oil levels between services.
Brian Hayes, Marketing manager for Chevron Global Lubricants in the UK, said: "Having the right oil in the right quantity is vital to an engine.
"It not only lubricates all the moving parts, keeps operating temperatures down, allows easier cold starting and stops the buildup of harmful deposits, but has a key role to play in keeping emissions and fuel consumption down as well."
Earlier this week, the Retail Motor Industry Federation called for all vans between three and 3.5 tonnes to undergo yearly MoTs, roadtransport.com reported.
