Van leasing customers being ripped-off by petrol prices, says AA

Research by the AA has revealed that petrol stations have failed to pass on to motorists a 2p per litre drop in fuel prices.

According to the motoring organisation, prices at the pump have stayed at around the 112p per litre mark for the past month, despite a fall in wholesale prices during this period.

The supermarkets, traditionally leaders in cutting prices, have been slow to react, the AA said.

AA president Edmund King warned that this could be losing filling stations perspective customers.

"We know from our research that £1.10 a litre is when driver tolerance of higher fuel prices begins to evaporate, and £1.12 may have been sufficient for many car owners to reconsider who they buy their fuel from," he said.

The association also found a discrepancy in fuel prices in different parts of the country, with Yorkshire and Humberside being the cheapest at 110.9p a litre for petrol and 112.8p for diesel.

Despite a rise in oil prices, a weak US Dollar is helping to keep costs low for other countries, the BBC reports.
