Van leasing drivers could be wasting money on underinflated tyres

Underinflated tyres could be costing van leasing drivers a considerable sum of money, it has been suggested.
According to a study by Michelin, drivers in the UK are wasting more than £440 million a year because they have not inflated their tyres to the correct pressure.
This is because underinflated tyres require more power to turn and so use up more fuel.
Michelin estimates that as much as 370 million litres of fuel are being wasted each year causing an additional one million tonnes of CO2 to be pumped into the atmosphere.
Furthermore, incorrectly inflated tyres can reduce the handling ability of a vehicle, making it more dangerous to drive.
"It really is a matter of life and death and people should learn to check their tyres regularly and thoroughly which is what we can help them to do," commented Michelin's head of communications Peter Snelling.
Michelin, one of the world's largest tyre manufacturers, was founded in France in 1888.
