Van leasing drivers given fuel saving advice

Van leasing drivers could cut down on their fuel bills by following advice issued by the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM).
The organisation has released a list of several points to consider ensuring driving in the most fuel-efficient manner.
For example, it recommends driving at 70mph rather than 80mph, which can save four pence per mile.
A smooth driving style, opposed to an aggressive one, can save 15 per cent fuel consumption, it claims, as can turning off air conditioning and heated windows when not needed.
IAM chief examiner Peter Rodger said: "A rise as little as 1p per litre will quickly add up. Simple measures such as looking well ahead and slowing down earlier instead of always using the brakes to slow down can make a real difference.
"A smoother driving style is the single best eco-driving tip. Good economical driving starts with safer driving and anticipation." Chancellor Alistair Darling recently announced a 3p increase in fuel duty will be introduced in stages over the next three months.
