Van leasing drivers warned of bank holiday gridlock

Van leasing customers hoping to travel this bank holiday weekend could face hours of delays.

As many 15 million vehicles are expected to take to the roads over the next four days as many look to get away for the weekend or take advantage of the school half-term.

It is feared this may cause gridlock on may of the country's roads.

According to the AA, around a third of motorists are definitely travelling this weekend, with a further 20 per cent likely to do so.

AA spokesman Paul Leather says: "Although the weather is expected to be a bit mixed, many drivers will head out regardless and lots of families will travel for half-term.

"Unless you're somewhere remote, it may be difficult to avoid traffic this weekend."

The Highways Agency suspended 31 sets of roadworks from 6am today (May 28th) until midnight on bank holiday Monday, but 32 will remain.

It was recently reported that mayor of London Boris Johnson plans to raise the city's congestion charge by £2 to help curb traffic levels.
