CAP has judged the Volkswagen Transporter to be T5 the best used van of last year. The VW Transporter T5 won the award by beating competition on factors such as value, model range coverage, available options, reliability and running cost, brand quality, and dealer network support.
Six vehicles were chosen to be the best in their class and an overall winner was chosen from these six.
The Volkswagen Transporter was chosen as it showed consistent performer on the judging criteria.
John Watts, head of the CAP commercial vehicle pricing team said: "The T5 just feels right. It has a strong brand image, a very professional dealer network and extremely high retained values. It also appeals to a wide range of operators thanks to a reputation for solid build quality and reliability. This translates into trust when the T5 reaches the used market. Drivers love it and when we say the T5 'just feels right' we are referring to that intangible quality that a truly great product has, which emerges when every feature is strong."
Other van nominations which were not quite as lucky as the VW Transporter were the Ford Fiesta car van, Volkswagen Caddy C20, Ford Transit 330-550, Toyota Hilux, and Ford Transit Minibus.
There can be no doubting that 2011 was Volkswagen's year as not only did they release vehicles which earned critical and commercial acclaim but they have scooped numerous awards from various bodies.
Their sales have increased accordingly.
