VW Pushes Boundaries with Unmanned Electric Van

There can be no disputing the recognition or the praise the Volkswagen Brand has received this year, as they have constantly turned out quality vehicles.

VW Group Research, the R&D arm of Volkswagen unveiled a prototype project which was designed in association with the University of Art at Braunsshweig and the German post office.

The vehicle named ET has been designed to operate as an electric van which if renewable energy sources are used, could operate with zero emissions. In addition to being environmentally friendly, it can operate, according to VW, unmanned.

The idea is that the van would respond to spoken commands such as "come to me" or "follow me". The vehicle could also be driven by stick from the passenger side of the vehicle, with a connecting door to the load space and cab. The idea is that a post man would not have to walk around the outside to get to the mail, but could simply access it from the cab.

VW's ET was unveiled at the Potsdam Design Centre, where Volkswagen claimed variations of the ET with its time saving features built into the design could be adapted to suit every industry.

Though the vehicle is looking somewhat futuristic, VW claim that the vehicle could be a concept that will dictate the future of commercial vehicles by the second half of this decade.

As we all know that it is not that far away.

There has been no word on when the new VW ET will go into production if at all.
