Younger drivers 'more likely to get lost'

Young drivers leasing Fiat Scudo Multijet vans may find it harder to navigate their way to a new destination than older motorists, new research suggests.
A study conducted by the AA found that 52 per cent of individuals aged between 18 to 24 have a sat-nav compared with 28 per cent of over-65s.
However, the research found that the older generation are more likely to have success getting to their destination as 95 per cent carry an atlas to help them plan journeys.
As a result, if there is a failure with sat-nav systems more mature drivers are able to find their destination without getting lost.
Edmund King, president of the AA, said: "Younger drivers who rely on modern technology for their navigational needs are the most prone to losing their way, while those relying on atlases are most accomplished at route planning."
The Institute of Advanced Motorists recently urged the government to introduce a post-test driver training course for young people in a bid to reduce the number of accidents that occur among the age group.
