If you're looking for something that combines the comfort of a family car with the practicalities of a light commercial vehicle, the Mitsubishi L200 4Life Double Cab is the answer. Incorporating five seats in a traditional car configuration, it also includes rear-door entry for passengers – as well, of course, a flatbed loading deck for your work needs.
The L200 4Life Double Cab offers many of the same great features as the 4Work range, but adds extra comfort for the cab, making it more enjoyable for passengers. An inbuilt entertainment centre comprising stereo radio and CD player with MP3 compatibility comes as standard, along with four speakers, so rear passengers are as at ease as those in the front. All the safety features you'd expect, including air bags for driver and front passenger and child seat fittings, are there – as well as security locks and an engine immobiliser, giving the vehicle an 8E insurance rating.
As far as the loading deck, there is a 0.845m ground clearance and a comfortable 0.46m loading height. Some of the loading length is sacrificed in order to provide the full double cab, but there is still an impressive 1.505m on offer. Load width is 1.470, comparable to the most work-focused models in the range – and it will still take a 1050kg payload.
The styling of the L200 4Life Double Cab reflects its aim to bring comfort and utility together. From the front, it could be a high-end off road vehicle. It is grand, modern and slick, but with bold strokes and chunky build. It looks robust – but still remains attractive.
For the engine, you can look forward to the advantages of a five-speed manual transmission and the economy of diesel. The L200 4Life Double Cab achieves 34.9 mpg – but also provides 134 bhp. Emissions meet Euro 4 standards, at 218 g/km.
