The Toyota Hilux Invincible has become one of the superior pick ups on the market since its arrival in 2010.
This multipurpose vehicle is a popular choice for those wanting a double-cab vehicle with some strength and grunt. Its 3.0 litre engine performs well at 33mpg, a great effort for a 4x4 vehicle this size and weight. With such a force in the engine, you can go from 0-62mph in 12 seconds. The power of this pick up does mean Co2 emissions are around 236g/km but the good news is that the engine noise is reasonably suppressed.
The Hilux Invincible is smooth to drive and despite being such a large, hefty vehicle (it weighs in at 3020kg). However, this bulk is crucial to carry a generous 1110kg payload, plus an additional 2250kg towing weight. Access to the cargo loading area is easy with a lockable tailgate, although the rear bumper does prevent lowering it completely.
As far as cargo carrying capabilities there is plenty of room - the load area dimensions are 1547mm x 1515mm x 1100mm. Interior storage includes a glove box, door storage and a covered bin between the front seats. It's not entirely spacious in the rear seating area but there is definitely space for 5 people when needed. 4-door access and 5 seats makes this a great option for those who want a pick up which can work well as a passenger vehicle, whether you have a large working crew or simply need to combine a work vehicle with a family car.
The good news is its brute strength has not been at the sacrifice of interior comfort and it works well in both areas. This is an excellent 4x4 pick up and while it might not be as smooth off-road, it's tough, hardy and durable.
