The van is used 5 days a week, I've had it almost 6 months now and already done 29k miles. I do plenty of motorway driving, and find the cruise control most beneficial. Using this gives me a very good mpg return. It can carry 3 x large pallet comfortably and within the permitted weight limits, which is necessary for my line of work. One disadvantage with this van is it's poor steering lock. I often find that I need more shunts back and forth to turn around than I did with my old Transit. The van is also non-turbo, which means slower acceleration and less power uphill (often requiring a down-shift of gear). I would also have liked air-con as standard. Although I am well satisfied, both with the vehicle and your service.

So far no complaints it is to early to say.

I was pleased with the van,at first sight.Having driven 2k plus miles now, there are a few things I would like to mention: 1.The steering lock is disappointing. It takes a little while to get used to the limited lock. 2.I was disappointed that air-conditioning was not standard. 3.The plywood interior was fine, but it was finished of with two metal strips (by the doors),which are not counter-sunk.i.e they are raised above the plywood flooring. It will not be long before some careless forklift driver catches these strips and pulls them out with the pallet, he is unloading.Presumably the cost of repairing this damage will fall to me. 4.The Safe-t-bar is excellent and set at just the right height.

Our Review

It is fair to say that the car - van range of vehicles like the Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCi Van is somewhat limited in terms of market appeal. It is designed for the smallest of payloads and carrying capacities, and its one real strength over small vans with their better carrying capacities and payloads, is that it has the manoeuvrability of a car.

That being said, the Ford Fiesta offers drivers a payload of around 500kg and a capacity of a 1000 cubic litres. The Ford Fiesta can handle a load length of 1296mm together with a load box width of 1278mm. This reduces to 1000mm between the wheel arches and a load height of 806mm. In terms of competition, the Ford Fiesta sits in the middle of its competitors. The Corsavan has a bigger loading bay, and the Peugeot 207 Van has a bit less.

Ford has provided the Fiesta Van with tie down hooks in the back and driver protection comes from a half height composite bulkhead. This way loose items will not be a distraction for the driver in mid drive.

The driving dynamics on the Ford Fiesta are highly impressive. Effectively, it is the Ford Fiesta car with side panels and no back seat and as a result the car simply flies around side streets exhibiting excellent turning circles and acceleration for a diesel engine. Though the Ford Fiesta cannot carry as much as the class above, it can get what it can carry from A to B much faster. The van also comes with a couple of nice touches in the form of eclectically assisted power steering, and 'Stall Prevention', which is designed to make manoeuvring at slow speeds that little bit easier and in some cases, that little bit less embarrassing.

The Ford Fiesta's diesel engine provides 67.3 mpg which makes it a highly competitive proposition in this respect, and its CO2 emissions come in at 98g/km.

As standard, the Ford Fiesta Van comes with a roof spoiler, electric door mirrors and windows, a stereo CD player with MP3 connection, four front speakers, and ABS breaks with brakeforce distribution. The sound system can be controlled from the steering column.

This class of van which is aimed at the small business that requires minimal load space and payload weight should consider the Ford Fiesta a contender. Its low fuel consumption and all round driving capabilities make it for all intense and purposes the ideal choice.
