Our Review of the Vauxhall Corsa

As the car - van market becomes more competitive and attractive to business that like the idea of an economical vehicle that can transport the smaller payloads as needed, each new model has to offer something a little bit different. To that end, the Vauxhall Corsavan Diesel 1.3 CDTi has a few attractive features that may turn a few heads in its direction.

The Vauxhall Corsavan is a competitor in its market. It has a payload of 550Kg payload and offers a cubic volume of 0.92m3. This new model of Vauxhall Corsavan boasts an impressive 85Kg improvement on previous Corsavans. The load area itself has been well thought out, as grooved plastic lines the walls which stops loads from snagging as they are being slid into position, and a full height mesh bulkhead stops the load from being in the passenger seat. The only downside to the loading area lies in the fact that it can become a little narrow in places to fully utilise the space, as right angles seem to be frowned upon.

The payloads are moved by a 1.3 CDTi diesel engine which gives a driver 90bhp to work with. The Vauxhall Corsavan gives 170Nm of torque at 1750rpm which accounts for its 58.9 miles per gallon fuel consumption. All in all, an impressive combination of shifting power and economy. The engine is a little noisy but good use of a CD player can offset it somewhat.

Road handling is good on the Vauxhall Corsavan and it can move a full payload smartly around town. Speed bumps and other such obstacles are traversed with ease, and though the turning circle isn't as tight as some of the vans in its class, it is still easy to steer and park. This is a key attribute for a van of this class.

The cab offers plenty of space for a driver and passenger, and the Vauxhall Corsavan comes with a CD stereo, central locking, tinted tailgate glass, and electric mirrors as standard, together with good storage options for paperwork and such like. Controls are where you would expect them to be, and subsequently are in easy reach for the driver.

The Vauxhall Corsavan is built to perform and is more than just a car with the seats ripped out. It is not hard to see why some businesses opt for this class of van, as they are very economical to run and very easy to pilot around town.
