Our Review of the Volkswagen Transporter

The Volkswagen Transporter T30 is a quality product from start to finish, and many drivers will undoubtedly like to take control of a van with a build quality as good as this. The cost may be slightly prohibitive, but in terms of what it can do and how well it does them, the Volkswagen Transporter simply cannot be beaten.

From a statistical perspective, the Volkswagen Transporter T30 has a great 2 litre TDI engine under the bonnet. This gives a driver 102 break horse power to work with, and a torque of 250 Nm to shift that 1088Kg payload from a standing position to a steep incline very smartly. This is all at 1500rpm which as any driver will tell you, is an impressive statistic. Low revs and high torques mean better fuel consumption and getting around in less than ideal driving conditions. The Volkswagen Transporter T30 has a fuel consumption of 37.7 miles per gallon, which is very good for this class of van.

Build quality on the Volkswagen Transporter T30 is exceptional like Volkswagen vans always are. There are no creaks or grinding noises that come from many other makes of van, and everything has a sturdy feel to it, from the catch on the glove box to the rear bumper.

Good builds make for good driving, and the Volkswagen Transporter has what can only be described as the perfect steering balance between fluidity and weight. The driver knows they are controlling a substantial van but is simply easy to do. The turning circle is 13.2m from kerb to kerb, but as it effortlessly arcs it feels like its 10.2.

The loading height of the van is an impressive 571mm, while the loading length is 2970. The length between the wheel arches is an impressive 1244mm and this widens to 1692mm for the rest of the van. The load height is 1470mm and it can easily accommodate a couple of Euro sized pallets without much need for organisation. Loading is assisted greatly by the side door.

The cab is a no frills but logical affair and it is fair to say that everything a driver need is at their fingertips. There is plenty of useful storage and coffee cup holders throughout the cab. The driver's seat is also adjustable to account for their height or lack of it, and the seatbelts are height adjustable and have pretensioners fitted.

Given the build quality and the performance it is difficult to see why businesses choose any other vehicle other than the Volkswagen Transporter T30.
