Vauxhall Astravan Diesel Sportive 1.7CDTi 16v Fridge Van
Offering a full 1.6 cubic metres in internal storage space, this fridge van is ideal for any small company needing to transport small quantities of fresh or frozen goods but does not require a full size vehicle.
Thanks to the fact that it is based on the Vauxhall Astra Estate, this Astravan is highly manoeuvrable around town and age to pass through all possible width or height restrictions to ensure it can get to exactly where it is needed.
Depending on the exact type of refrigeration unit that is installed, some of the internal cargo space and carry capacity may be reduced, but when carrying goods of this kind it is unlikely that the full 610kg ability would be needed.
Despite this, it is comforting for any driver to know that the vehicle comes with anti-lock braking and emergency braking assist as standard. One valuable optional extra, supplied as standard on larger-engine models, is the addition of electronic stability control. This advanced system is able to take account of the effects of a large payload on the vehicle’s centre of gravity and make adjustments to the braking and position of the car as a result. In trials this system had dramatically reduced the rate of certain kinds of accident.
With a comfortable, upright driving position and a seat that adjust for height, along with the steering wheel, any driver should be able to fit into this van with ease. The 1.7 litre turbo diesel engine provides 75 bhp and fuel economy of up to 60mpg, making this a nicely economic van to run.
