Vauxhall Combo Diesel 2000 1.7CDTi 16V Crew Van
Most small vans excel when it comes to carrying equipment but fall down flat when it comes to carrying people. A few of the larger models manage to squeeze in three across the front seat but in anything other than a mid-size panel van, you rarely get more than two.
For companies whose work requires only limited amounts of equipment but is heavy on manpower, the only solution for a while was to have two vehicle. But the Combo Crew van is one of a number of vehicles designed to address this problem. With a good size of payload bay, it also squeezes in an extra row of seats allowing it to carry 5 adult passengers.
The 1.7 litre engine provides 100bhp, more than enough power to propel both a crew and full payload around the city streets or between cities on the motorway. With a payload capacity of up to 666 kgs and a combined fuel economy figure of 53.3, this vehicle offers considerable cost savings over the next class of vans and is ideal for a company that doesn’t need to carry large loads.
With the choice of side or rear doors, loading this Combo is easy to achieve. With a load length of 980mm (1980mm with the seats folded) and a width of 1107mm between the wheel arches, there is plenty of space for a huge variety of goods and services.
As with all vans, changes in the way the vehicle handles when it has a full payload can making driving difficult, especially in emergency situations. To counter this, the Combo has taken a lesson from many vans in the class above and comes with anti-lock brakes, emergency brake assist and electronic stability control all as standard.
The five seats are comfortable enough but claustrophobic passengers might struggle in the back row due to the lack of side windows. These back seats fold down, either together or in a 60/40 ratio so you can adjust your payload and crew capacity according to whatever job you have planned.
