Volkswagen Transporter 2.0 T30 TDI 102PS Van
Over the last 60 years the VW Transporter has become an icon; a solid, all-rounder with high build-quality and a comfortable driving experience. For those looking for a solid mid-size van the Transporter T30 is a highly recommended choice; bigger in the back than the T28 but without the Kombi’s focus on passenger transport.
In terms of load capacity, the 3-seater T30 benefits from some extra space compared to the smaller T28 model. If you’re looking for bigger cargo handling, then this is the model you want to go for. This Transporter will handle maximum load sizes of 3.0m x 1.4m x 1.7m. And with a solid payload of over a metric ton, the T30 won’t let you down when the sleeves get rolled up.
As a VW Transporter, the T30 benefits from Volkswagen’s class-leading range of diesel TDI engines. With 102bhp and running at 37.7 miles-per-gallon, the 2.0 litre T30 handles the road well and provides a clear, fuel-efficient driving experience. In fact, the whole Volkswagen range complies with the Euro V standards for vehicle emissions, meaning the Transporter runs cleanly and efficiently. You’ll avoid any charges that come with London’s new Low Emission Zone charges and you’ll qualify for the lowest rate of LGV road tax. Compared to the Caddy though, the Transporter lands in a slightly higher insurance group between 5E and 7E.
On the inside, the level of comfort is high; Volkswagen has a reputation of using high quality materials and the Transporter is a great van to drive. There’s a basic Radio and CD player set-up, but if you want to upgrade there’s also a wide range of extras available, including digital radio, a MP3 compatible CD player and a useful aux-in socket.
